Nearly 1000 arrested in Nepal while celebrating festive of colours
Nepal police on Saturday said that they arrested nearly 1,000 youths and partygoers in for reportedly violating the local rules and regulations while celebrating Holi, the "festival of colors."
The police also said that they seized more than 285 motor bikes and one car for allegedly driving recklessly while celebrating the festival.
Hundreds of foreign tourists also are taking part in the festival and shared their joy by playing with different colors getting smeared with colors and soaked in water.
It is a spring religious festival of Hindu celebrated in last full moon of the lunar month.
According to police sources over 957 people were arrested in the capital alone and 286 vehicles were seized during the round up. The numbers could surpass 1,000 as many more were arrested outside the capital of Kathmandu. Most of them were detained for alcohol related offenses.
